Thanksgiving is known to be the perfect time to renew family
bonds, get together and show appreciation to one another. According to ACSIA
Partners, a leader in planning for long term care, it has also been regarded as
the perfect event to initiate “the talk” and discuss possible long term care
needs of aging parents.
Denise Gott, ACSIA Partner’s CEO says, “We see this more and
more.” Savvy middle-aged children are taking this opportunity to discuss aging
issues of their parents in advance. They figure out the best person who will
take care of their parents when they are older and if their care needs will be
covered by insurance or savings.
Thanksgiving is the most appropriate time to discuss these
things since all family members will most likely be present, it’s the time to
look back and look ahead, it’s the end of the fiscal year wherein last minute
insurance decisions can affect taxes.
